Yes. All of our tutoring is online. We use a high-impact online model that saves you travel time and allows us to match your child with the best specialist tutor for their examination goals, not just whoever lives nearby.

All 1-to-1 sessions are conducted online and scheduled directly between the scholar and their tutor. This allows for flexible sessions. For home-schooled scholars, you may be able to schedule sessions to run during the day. However, we recommend that you stick with a weekly timeslot that works for you and your child’s tutor.

Our tutors are graduates and professionals recruited from some of the most competitive universities in the UK, USA and internationally,  with degrees including Mathematics, Engineering, English Language, Biology, History, Philosophy and Law.

Each tutor goes through a rigorous selection process, where we assess not only their academic achievements and teaching experience, but also their teaching style, communication skills, and ability to engage scholars through a range of topics.

All tutors are enhanced DBS-checked and receive specialist training in the GT Scholars Success Habits Framework™ before working with any scholar.

Standard tutors focus only on content. We focus on the child. Our unique combination of tutoring, mentoring and leadership skills ensures our scholars are motivated to learn, not just told to learn.

We don’t just look at subject expertise; we look at “curriculum chemistry.” We match your child with a tutor who is familiar with their specific system – for example, if you are preparing for UK examinations, we will match you with a tutor that is experienced with the specific exam board that you are following, such as OCR, AQA or Edexcel. Likewise, we will pair scholars that are following the US curriculum, with a tutor who has a strong background in Common Core or College Board requirements.

The tutor-scholar relationship is key. If the chemistry isn’t right in the first few sessions, we’ll offer a hassle-free rematch to ensure your child feels supported.

Yes. If, after an honest review, we agree that your child would benefit more from the Collaborative Pathway, we can facilitate a transition at the start of the next intake period. We take the quality of the scholar experience seriously and will never keep a student in a format that is not delivering the best results for them. This would be discussed with your dedicated Programme manager.

We keep our sessions small – typically between 6 – 12 students. However, some groups may be smaller than this. This ensures that every scholar receives individual attention from the tutor while still benefiting from the collaborative energy and “healthy competition” of a group setting.

Sessions are held weekly, running for 75 mins (1h 15 mins). This ensures that scholars have sufficient time to focus deeply on key concepts, practise effectively, and receive personalised support within a small group setting.

No. We stream our groups carefully. We aim to match scholars with peers who are working towards similar grades, ensuring the pace is challenging but achievable.

Yes. Holiday Booster Classes are included for scholars signed up to small group tutoring. The holiday boosters run for a total of 3 weeks per year. These sessions happen during October half term (UK only), Spring/Easter break (UK & US), and the July-August Summer break (UK & US). All small group tutoring sessions are recorded and uploaded to the scholar’s learning hub, so they can catch up or review complex topics at any time.

Our “Micro-Class” environment is designed to be safe and inclusive. Our tutors are trained to look out for quieter students to ensure they are comfortable contributing without pressure.

Absolutely. We offer the flexibility to switch between our Collaborative Pathway (Small Group) and our Individualised Pathway (1-to-1) at the start of a new term. This allows you to choose the level of intensity that best suits your child’s current academic goals, such as extra support right before USA AP exams or UK GCSEs. This would be discussed with your dedicated Programme manager.

Yes. We have tutors who specialise in the US curriculum, with some covering both UK and US pathways

For scholars in the UK, our tutors support them with GCSE and A-level examinations. For the USA, our tutors support scholars with SATS and AP Examinations. For International Baccalaureate (IB), or other international programmes, our tutors work from your child’s specific syllabus materials to ensure complete relevance.

For small group tutoring sessions, all group sessions have been specifically set up to run in the late afternoons or evenings after school eg. after 4pm UK time, UAE and USA Eastern Time. This means the scholars in each small group session are typically based in the same country.

Yes, all mentoring sessions take place on our secure online platform. This allows us to connect your child with high-level professionals from across the globe, ensuring they aren’t limited by their local geography when seeking world-class career and academic advice.

Mentoring is not subject tutoring. However, by improving Metacognition (study skills) and Focus, most scholars see a natural lift in grades as a byproduct of better habits.

While a tutor focuses on specific subject mastery (like UK GCSE Maths or USA AP Biology), a mentor focuses on the “big picture.” They help scholars with goal setting, time management, and building a growth mindset. For scholars considering US Colleges, mentors are particularly helpful in navigating the holistic admissions process that goes beyond just test scores.

All mentors are also enhanced DBS-checked and fully trained in the GT Scholars Success Habits Framework™ before working with any scholar.

We look at your child’s career interests and academic goals. If your child is interested in a career in tech or finance or is considering studying in the USA, we aim to pair them with a professional who has global experience or who has navigated that specific industry and educational path.

We give priority to scholars who have been on one of our programmes for at least one full term, and scholars that have consistent attendance and participation. We want to gain all of the benefits of being mentored, but this can only happen for scholars who are genuinely committed to their growth.

If you’re on the 1-to-1 mentoring programme, you’ll typically have 6 hours of mentoring over a 12-week term. Your mentor will work with you to arrange weekly sessions (30 mins per session) or fortnightly sessions (1 hour per session).

We will initially select the mentor based on a detailed profile of your child. We’ll ask as many questions as possible so that we get a good match from our pool of mentors. However, if the chemistry isn’t right in the first few sessions, we will rematch you with a new mentor.

Yes. Supporting international university ambitions is a key strength of our mentoring programme. Our mentors have direct experience of applying to and studying at leading UK universities, and many have professional networks in the USA. They can help your child build a competitive university profile, craft compelling personal statements, prepare for admissions interviews, and develop the strategic clarity needed to navigate highly competitive application processes – whether the target is Oxbridge, Russell Group, the Ivy League, or other top-tier institutions.

Admission to GT Scholars is selective. We review every application to ensure the scholar is ready to commit to our high-ambition framework. Our cohorts are frequently oversubscribed, we therefore recommend applying before the application deadline in order to avoid disappointment.

Once we receive your application, our admissions team will review your details. If your child meets our initial criteria, we will invite you to the next stage of the process to discuss your child’s goals and assess their suitability for the programme.

Absolutely. While we are an academic accelerator, building confidence is at the core of what we do. Our unique combination of mentoring and leadership coaching is specifically designed to transform quiet students into confident public speakers and leaders.

No. We are interested in potential, not current performance. We welcome students who are currently underperforming but have the drive to turn things around.

If you missed the application deadline, your application will be considered in the next intake period. Our scheduled intake periods are there to help us maintain our low tutor-to-scholar ratio and ensure every scholar receives personalised attention, particularly during their induction and orientation period. Applications received after the new intake induction period will be added to our priority list for the next term.
