The 1-to-1 TUTORING Pathway

1-to-1 Tutoring for Accelerated Grades & Academic Confidence

Give your child the undivided attention they need to close knowledge gaps, master exam technique, and secure top-tier grades.

Is your child’s potential being fully realised?

While teachers work tirelessly to differentiate learning for every child, the reality of a busy classroom means their attention is shared among thirty students.

The curriculum moves fast, and even with the best support, there isn’t always time to pause and address every unique question in depth. Without this opportunity to reflect, small misunderstandings can quietly grow into knowledge gaps that impact confidence and grades.

Our 1-to-1 Tutoring Pathway works alongside their school education. We provide the dedicated time, bespoke roadmap, and 100% focused attention required to master complex topics and unlock your child’s true academic potential.

Who is the 1-to-1 Tutoring Pathway for?

The 1-to-1 tutoring pathway is designed for ambitious scholars who refuse to settle for “average.” It is specifically tailored for:

The High-Flyer

Who feels unchallenged by the standard pace of class and needs to be academically stretched to secure top-tier A*s and 9s.

The Silent Struggler

Who has lost some of their confidence and needs a safe, private space to ask questions without fear of judgment.

The Exam Candidate

Who needs urgent, targeted focus on specific areas of weaknesses before their GCSEs, A-Levels, or 11+ exams.

What our scholars say…

  • It was difficult at the beginning because you already have so much to do at school, and it feels like you don't have time, but you actually get used to it. I've moved up a set in my French and my Maths. I'm actually looking forward to my GCSEs!

    Abi, age 15
  • I've learned that learning means you have to push yourself...no one can make you learn...It's a bit like sports...If you don't push yourself, you won't get better...I'd say I have improved because I'm making more of an effort, and I'm better at organising my time and my homework.

    Shaun, age 12
  • It's a good programme...you start to see that actually you are quite clever...because now in class I understand things and I don't get worried when we have a new topic because I know that if I just focus I will be able to understand it.

    Gabrielle, Age 11
  • I started with GT Scholars in Year 8, and back then, I thought of myself as an average student. By Year 11, I found myself in the top set. I ended up getting mostly 8s & 9s - basically some of the best grades in my school for my GCSEs. The support has been phenomenal.

  • My tutors really helped me improve in Maths.
I was initially predicted a 5 for my GCSE Maths... I didn't think I could do better than that.
I ended up getting a 7, which I am extremely proud of.

FAQs

[1-to-1 TUTORING]
  • Is the 1-to-1 tutoring online?

Yes. All of our tutoring is online. We use a high-impact online model that saves you travel time and allows us to match your child with the best specialist tutor for their examination goals, not just whoever lives nearby.

  • What time of the day do tutoring sessions take place? How do sessions work for scholars in different time zones?

All 1-to-1 sessions are conducted online and scheduled directly between the scholar and their tutor. This allows for flexible sessions. For home-schooled scholars, you may be able to schedule sessions to run during the day. However, we recommend that you stick with a weekly timeslot that works for you and your child’s tutor.

  • Which qualifications do your tutors hold?

Our tutors are graduates and professionals recruited from some of the most competitive universities in the UK, USA and internationally,  with degrees including Mathematics, Engineering, English Language, Biology, History, Philosophy and Law.

Each tutor goes through a rigorous selection process, where we assess not only their academic achievements and teaching experience, but also their teaching style, communication skills, and ability to engage scholars through a range of topics.

All tutors are enhanced DBS-checked and receive specialist training in the GT Scholars Success Habits Framework™ before working with any scholar.

  • We have tried tutoring before, and it didn't work. How is this different?

Standard tutors focus only on content. We focus on the child. Our unique combination of tutoring, mentoring and leadership skills ensures our scholars are motivated to learn, not just told to learn.

  • How do you match my child with the right tutor, and what if it’s not the right fit?

We don’t just look at subject expertise; we look at “curriculum chemistry.” We match your child with a tutor who is familiar with their specific system – for example, if you are preparing for UK examinations, we will match you with a tutor that is experienced with the specific exam board that you are following, such as OCR, AQA or Edexcel. Likewise, we will pair scholars that are following the US curriculum, with a tutor who has a strong background in Common Core or College Board requirements.

The tutor-scholar relationship is key. If the chemistry isn’t right in the first few sessions, we’ll offer a hassle-free rematch to ensure your child feels supported.

  • Can my child move to Small Group tutoring if the 1-to-1 format is not the right fit?

Yes. If, after an honest review, we agree that your child would benefit more from the Collaborative Pathway, we can facilitate a transition at the start of the next intake period. We take the quality of the scholar experience seriously and will never keep a student in a format that is not delivering the best results for them. This would be discussed with your dedicated Programme manager.

Your Journey to Enrolment

  • Complete the online application to provide an overview of your child’s grades and academic goals. This helps our admissions team assess their suitability before moving to the next stage.

  • 2. The Admissions Interview

Successful applicants will be invited to book a 30-minute consultation. We will meet with you and your child to discuss your aspirations and goals. We'll also use this meeting to identify the specific leadership and learning pathways that will deliver the best results.

  • 3. Offer & Enrolment

If your interview is successful, you will receive a formal Offer of Place to join our next cohort of scholars. At this stage, you will need to select your programme tier, confirm your start date and formally accept your offer in order to secure your spot.

Bridging the Gap Between Ability and Grades

We’ve successfully turned around grades for hundreds of students who felt stuck, frustrated, or lost in a specific subject. If your child has the desire to succeed but lacks the confidence or strategy to get there, our 1-to-1 pathway provides the breakthrough they need to realise their true potential.
