Instructions: Thank you for completing the application. All programme applicants are required to complete the following essay questions.

Deadline: These questions must be submitted within 3 days from the date of submitting your application eg. If you submitted your application on Friday night, your essay will be due on Monday night. Please answer all five essay questions in your own words. Each answer should have a word count of 100-300 words.

Submission guidelines: Essay answers should be emailed as a Word document or PDF attachment to contactus@gtscholars.org. Please remember to include your full name, age and your year group.

Q1. Why would you like to join the GT Scholars programme?

Feel free to include information such as your academic and career ambitions, your strengths, the things you are good at, why joining the programme is important to you and what you hope to gain from the programme.

Q2. Who are your role models and what do you admire about them?

Try to think of 2-3 role models that you admire and tell us what you admire about them, why you admire them and how they have impacted you. These role models can be people that you know personally or people that you have heard of.

Q3. What are you most proud of?

Tell us about the activities you have taken part in, activities that you enjoy or the things that you have achieved, that you also feel proud of. You can also tell us about a time when you have had to overcome a challenge. Make sure you explain the challenge and how you overcome this.

Q4. Why would you like to have a tutor?

If you have applied to a programme that includes tutoring, please tell us more about why you would like to have 1-1 online tutoring sessions. What are your academic goals? What are you attaining at the moment? What help do you need and what difference could tutoring make to your grades?

Q5. Why would you like to have a mentor?

If you have applied to a programme that includes mentoring, please tell us more about why you would like to be matched with a mentor. Do you believe that mentoring is important? If so, why? How will you benefit from mentoring? Which areas do you need help with and what do you hope to gain from having a mentor?
