Volunteers and Friends of GT Scholars – Happy Volunteer Week!

Volunteers and Friends of GT Scholars – Happy Volunteer Week!

We hope you had a fantastic week! It’s volunteer week and we would like to give special thanks to our volunteers and share a few things with you before the weekend begins.

Volunteering Feeds the Soul!
We would like to celebrate and thank all our volunteers for their support! Your selfless contributions to our cause are valued! Without your dedicated support, we would not have been able to make such a great impact in the lives of our scholars. A survey was done by the UnitedHealth Group that suggested that there are some health benefits linked to volunteering. Interesting! You can read the full report here.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
Our next event, Project Accelerate, takes place on Saturday 16th June. This workshop will focus on showing young people how to build their CV and create a cover letter or personal statement that reflects their strengths and how to find work experience opportunities and internships to kickstart their career journey. We are planning to form a small panel that will give advice on work experience and CV writing. Please contact us if you are available to volunteer for one hour as a panellist for this event.

Teaching Resources
If you are a tutor in search of some fresh new lesson ideas, it will be definitely worth your while to visit the BBC Bitesize website. The site offers free teaching resources that will definitely keep your lessons exciting and informative.  You can browse through many revision exercises, tests and fun activities for all subjects.

GT Scholars is a not-for-profit social enterprise and registered charity. Our after-school tutoring, mentoring and enrichment programmes are designed to help young people aged 11-18 achieve their academic and career aspirations. Contact us to find out how you can join us a volunteer tutor or mentor and make a difference in young people’s lives.
