Skill-building days

All GT scholars take part in 3 skill-building days per year. The skill-building days give young people the opportunity to develop essential skills, try new challenges and build confidence in their own ability.

What do the skill-building days involve?

The skills days are usually designed around a theme. You’ll be given a project for the day and you’ll be given a limited amount of time to work in a team and come up with a solution to a set of challenges!

Discover strengths, develop existing skills

Presentation skills, team working skills, leadership skills, communication skills….these are just a few of the skills that you’ll be improving. Adults use these skills in their every day lives and we believe that these skills are just as important as GCSEs & A-levels.

Build a growth mindset

But it’s not just about the skills! The skill-building days are also designed to help you build a growth mindset as you begin to embrace challenges and view them as opportunities to progress and succeed. Over the past few decades, there has been a lot of research on the growth mindset and educational researchers now know that having a growth mindset one of the most important ingredients for academic and career success.
