Online Careers Day

Parents & Pupils can choose the workshops & masterclasses that they would like to attend ie. they do not need to be present for the whole day. The recordings will be made available for 48 hours after the day. However, parents must be registered in advance, in order to access this.

Yes, you may promote this to pupils at your school. However, we recommend that your school signs up to Bronze Membership with GT Scholars. This is free for all schools. Once you’re signed up, we’ll send you suitable materials that you can share with pupils eg. posters, pre-written emails, SMS messages, flyers and letters. You’ll also get updates on other free events and programmes sponsored by our corporate partners. You can contact us using this link.

Please feel free to promote the Online Careers Day to pupils in Years 8 to 13. We do not have a maximum capacity for the online Careers day or for any of the workshops. There will be the option of joining the Zoom webinar but all sessions will also be live streamed with a special page for sending questions and answering polls throughout the day.

We started running the Careers Day in London in 2016 and we usually run this once a year. However, now that we have moved this online, we will aim to run this twice a year. The first event will be in February/March and the second event will be in October/November.

The Careers Day will usually run during half term holiday breaks or at the weekend, to avoid any interruptions with school lessons.

Over the past few years, we have had speakers from a range of companies such as Deloitte, PWC, Goldman Sachs, Accenture and Blackrock bank. The day usually features a range of short panel sessions, workshops & talks from various professionals. Many of the sessions are interactive and have a Q&A element where pupils can send in their questions. We also usually have smaller workshop-style sessions focused on improving employability skills and where possible, we have talks from universities. Parents & Pupils can choose the workshops & masterclasses that they would like to attend ie. they do not need to be present for the whole day.

As with many of our programmes & events, this is Completely FREE for schools and for young people. It is funded by our partners & sponsors. This is included within our Bronze Membership (Free membership) which is open to all schools and offers additional free programmes and events throughout the year.

We recommend that you promote this to pupils in Years 8 to 13 as there will be different sessions suited to different ages. We’ll be including these figures in a summary report after the Careers Day and this will show which schools the pupils came from and the numbers.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept pupils in Year 7 or below. These sessions are online, our terms and conditions dictate that pupils must be minimum aged 13 and must have permission from a parent before they use any online apps and resources.

Our team may be able to run a short workshop at your school or provide you with a pre-recorded workshop that could be useful for your Careers day. We have a range of themed workshops that we’re able to share with member schools, please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.

Yes, the Careers Day has been designed for parents to attend along with pupils and feedback has shown that parents have found the sessions useful and informative.

The Careers Day is funded by our partners & sponsors, and it is entirely free for parents and young people to attend.

Many of the speakers for the Careers day are DBS checked because they regularly volunteer with us as a tutor or mentor. However, volunteer speakers that are not regular volunteers are not required to have an Enhanced DBS check. By law, we cannot apply for DBS checks for individuals that are volunteering for a single day and individuals that are not directly interacting with pupils. We can email you a copy of our safeguarding policy and procedures.

No. The Careers Day will be online and we will be using a webinar format. Which means that pupils can see the speakers but the speakers cannot see the pupils and other attendees. We ask attendees to please respect the privacy of our speakers and ask questions on the day, not after the day. We also ask speakers to report any individuals that attempt to make contact with them after the careers day.

No – We will not ask your school to give us contact details for any pupils or parents ie. no personal data is shared. All of our programmes and events require parents to sign up by themselves. This means that as a member school, you will need to email, text or call parents and give them any necessary info.

Yes, pupils will be sending in their questions by using an app. They can also ‘upvote’ their favourite questions. This ensures that the moderator for each session (can put forward the most relevant questions to the speakers. Each masterclass and Q&A session is approximately 60-90 mins long.

We also have a newsletter which includes many free blogs and free resources that pupils and parents can access via our website. We also send regular updates about career opportunities via email. Schools can also access the Career Insight Programme which is only available on Silver or Gold membership and this gives your pupils access to 1-to-1 CV Reviews, 1-to-1 Interview feedback, 1-to-1 careers advice and online courses. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.

We’ve already lined up most of our speakers and partners for this term ie. February. However, we encourage attendees to book early and tell us if there are any specific careers they are interested in so we can work towards this. If we’re unable to support due to limited time & resources, we always try to signpost parents & young people to various forms of support offered by other organisations.

In order to start promoting the online careers day to your pupils, your school will need to fill in this school membership form and select the Bronze membership  (Free membership) – you’ll need two contact details for your school – at least one contact must be on your Senior Leadership Team. If you have any questions, we recommend that you get in touch with us so we can answer your questions and explain more about the free events and programmes included within school membership.
