Friends of GT Scholars – Three weeks to go til the Online Careers day!

I’ve got that weekend feeling! How about you? This week almost feels like a replay of last week. We’re still hard at work getting everything ready for Careers Day, which is now only three weeks away! We now have over 400 parents & young people who’ve registered to attend the day, and we’re expecting at least 1,000 young people to be in attendance! There is still time to let us know if you’d like to volunteer or support in other ways… Read on for more information!

Link us to a university for Careers day!
Research shows that young people from the UK’s most disadvantaged postcode districts are nearly five times less likely to go to university than those in the most advantaged areas. This is one of the reasons we’re inviting universities to speak to young people at the online Careers summit. So far, Goldsmiths University and Westminster University have come on board, but it would be great to have more universities take part. If you’re a student or you’re connected to a university recruitment team, and you can help, please get in touch with me.

Would you like to volunteer as part of the events team?
We’re looking for more event volunteers to help us behind the scenes at the Online Careers Day. This volunteering opportunity will mean helping the event run smoothly from organising online polls, moderating panels, reviewing questions from the audience, and directing the questions to speakers on different panels. As an events volunteer, you’ll need to be available for a few hours on Saturday 27th February from 9.30am – 4pm. If you’d be interested in supporting as an events volunteer, please reply to this email, and I’ll be in touch with you soon!

Have you sent your photo & bio?
If you’ve signed up to be a volunteer speaker at one of the panel sessions, running a masterclass, or working as an events volunteer, we’ll need a photo and a short bio for the event. Your photo & bio will be added to the Careers Day website so that attendees know which speakers are leading the masterclasses and which speakers they’ll find in the Q&A panel session. You can submit your bio & photo by filling in the form here.

Have an amazing weekend!
