Friends of GT Scholars – Let’s mentor, inspire and support young people!

Howdy! I can’t believe it’s Friday already!? This week has been a very exciting week for us because we’ve reached 2500 registrations for the upcoming Careers Day taking place next Saturday. As you may know, this is our 6th annual careers day and we’re hoping that we’ll reach 3000 young people this year! When technology and volunteering come together, great things can happen and it’s amazing that technology is now allowing us to reach so many young people across England!! If you’re interested in more online volunteering opportunities, check out this week’s newsletter.

Spread the word by liking & sharing our latest LinkedIn post!
Tomorrow marks 7 days until the Online Careers Day. You might have already spotted an email from me about  liking, sharing and commenting on the LinkedIn post. Thank you to everyone who’s been able to share and comment on the previous post. We’ve now created a mini-video trailer to promote the Careers day and we’d love for you to share this. If you’d like to take part in the quickest volunteer opportunity ever, take 2 minutes and like or comment on this new LinkedIn video post for the Careers Day!

Become a mentor and inspire a young leader!
The Inspiring Future Leaders programme is for boys in Years 8 & 9. This leadership programme will run for 6 months, from March 2021 until August 2021. I know some volunteers are still waiting to be matched, and this will be a great volunteering opportunity if you’re interested in volunteering as a mentor. As a mentor, you will need to be available to support your mentee for a total of 6 hours during the run of the programme – approximately 1 hour a month. Please let me know if you would like to get involved, and I’ll be in touch to share more information about this.

Teaching & learning resources for tutors!
We’re halfway through the term, and if you’re looking for a fresh approach to your tutoring sessions, why not have a look at the GT Scholars Learning Directory?  It’s home to more than 250 free learning websites that can help you put a new spin on your tutoring sessions. You can easily filter through your search by age group and subject. Choose from games, lessons, revision videos and interactive stories! Have a look at the GT Scholars Learning Directory!

Have a fantastic weekend!
