It is important for young people to not only learn new skills but to make full use of the skills that they have learned and we ask our scholars to develop leadership skills by taking part in skilled-volunteering.
As part of the Young Leaders programme, we ask all of our scholars to take part in skilled-volunteering. Skilled-volunteering hours can include public speaking or presenting at one of our events, contributing to our blog or vlog, joining our advisory board or becoming a GT Scholars junior ambassador, being part of a panel and speaking to new scholars or volunteers, creating a micro website or online app for other scholars to use or any other activity that demonstrates use of a soft or technical skill. The programme is designed to help young people gain leadership skills that can be added to their CV for work experience and personal statement for university.
The Young Leaders programme has been designed to support students with high aspirations that would like to gain access to top universities, competitive careers or top-tier apprenticeships.
Our mentors are professionals and graduates that work in a range of careers. All our mentors are DBS checked volunteers. Many of our mentors have been chosen because they work in careers or go to universities that our scholars aspire to enter. They are passionate about making a difference and aim to support scholars in reaching their full potential.
