What is this workshop about?

This is a 3-hour family workshop that aims to help young people understand the wide range of careers available to them and help them make an informed decision about their future career.

This workshop aims to answer the following questions – Which careers are available to young people today? What things should I consider when choosing a career? Which subjects will I need to choose at GCSE & A-level if I want to get into a certain career? Which professions, careers and industries are trending at the moment and have a high demand? What can I expect to earn in different careers?

During the workshop you will have the chance to hear from young professionals in a range of careers and understand the path that they took to reach their current position. By the end of the workshop you should have an idea of some the careers that may be suited to your strengths, abilities and your personality. You should also be able to take away some practical steps you can immediately use to achieve your career aspirations.

What will you get from this workshop?

This short workshop aims to help you:

  • Meet graduates and professionals from a range of careers
  • Discover some of the careers that may be suited to your strengths
  • Get a better understanding of the earning potential in a range of careers
  • Understand some of the industries and professionals that have a high demand
  • Recognise some of the top apprenticeship and degree schemes in the country
  • Make an informed decision about which subjects to study at GCSE & A-level

Who should attend?

This family workshop is tailored to parents and young people that want to know more about how to get into a certain career or they would like to get a general overview of the range of career options available to them. If your child is unsure which careers to focus on then this workshop is an excellent opportunity to begin to address this. 

Please note that we aim to tailor the workshop around you and invite speakers that match your career goals so we would ask that you kindly state which careers you are interested in when you register your interest in this workshop.

Fee: This workshop is free for young people with household income under £16,190. A fee may be applicable if your total household income is above £16,190.

Other notes: A buffet lunch and refreshments are provided as part of the fee for any full day enrichment events. For half day events and short workshops we provide tea and coffee and light refreshments. If you have access needs or special dietary requirements please state this when you book your place.

Bursaries: We have a limited number of bursaries of for each of our courses, workshops and programmes. Please register your interest if you would like to apply for a bursary place. Please note that we do not provide bursaries for travel costs.
