Young people in the UK will have a chance to showcase their skills and talents, by taking part in the GT Scholars x Brit Insurance Digital Challenge! These digital challenges have been designed to give pupils a chance to gain online work experience in the insurance industry, a growing field that is offering many opportunities for young people. Pupils will also gain a certificate once they complete all 5 challenges, and there are amazing prizes for challenge finalists and winners! In collaboration with Maths Week London, Maths on Toast has offered free downloadable resources that you and your family can enjoy together. The Great Exhibition Road Festival has a free online opportunity for families to create and play with colour. This hands-on activity will give you and your child the opportunity to experiment and invent with colour and create your own colourful artworks. Join the Museum of Zoology for a free online family event exploring wildlife past, present, and future. This event will uncover the collections that tell us about the wildlife of the past, and you’ll also find out about wildlife research today and what you can do to support biodiversity. Free Online Work Experience with Brit Insurance!
We’ve teamed up with Brit Insurance to launch digital challenges to attract more young people to careers in the insurance industry. Your child can complete the challenges in their own time and download their certificate when they’ve finished which they can add to their CV or personal statement. We’ve also got some amazing prizes up for grabs. Your child can win up to £3000 in prizes for themselves and their school,and be invited to a career insight day at the Brit insurance offices in central London (Travel expenses included!) Enrol in an online Skills Development Course!
Youth Employment UK is offering young people between the ages of 14 and 16 an opportunity to boost their life and work skills. During this free course your child will receive life hacks and pep talks and discover youth-friendly opportunities. Once you complete the course, you get a certificate that you can add to your cv. Gates Scholars’ Teach-a-thon is hosting a free week-long programme of short, interactive teaching sessions. The sessions are open to secondary school students and aim to inspire students and give them a glimpse of what it’s like to study at university. They will be covering topics in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields. The sessions start on Monday 4th April, and you can book here

Help your Daughter to Shine!
Her Path to Purpose is hosting a free online, interactive, and empowering workshop for young women aged 13 to 18. This workshop aims to empower and build the confidence and self-esteem of young women while helping them discover their passion and achieve their purpose. Join a Book Club!
Oxplore Book Club is a free online event for young people aged 11-14. Award-winning author Manjeet Mann will be discussing her book The Crossing. With the cold and rainy weather coming up, we’re sure to spend more time indoors! So it’s a great time to encourage your child to develop their writing skills! This is an essential skill that’ll equip them with communication and thinking skills, allowing them to express themselves. Writing can also be a lot of fun! If this is a skill you’d like your child to develop, read on to find out more about what we’ve got lined up!

Explore your strengths as a writer!
The Happy Place Project is hosting a free, online creative writing workshop for teens aged 16 and up! This workshop is designed to help your child explore their strengths, resources, and hopes. They’ll have the opportunity to find out more about what they love and use this to write their manifesto. The workshop takes place on Tuesday 26th October, and you can sign up here

Write your own character!
Writing interesting characters is one of the many, free online courses offered by the National Centre for Writing. This course is open to young people aged 13-17 and allows them to learn all about what makes characters interesting and realistic. By the end of the course, you’ll have created a character profile that you can use in your own stories! To register for this course, click here

Take up a fun writing course!
Young Writer’s Blueprint is a free, online course for young people aged 6-10. In this fun course, your child will learn to gather ideas, create characters and settings, write short stories and also learn some basic editing skills.
